Why Should Abortion Be Legal
Many women ask the question of why should abortion be legal. There is no real answer for this question. There are no real reasons for abortion that are apart from the inconvenience of having a child unexpectedly. Many will say that certain reasons for abortion are up for debate when the matter of the child in the womb being physically or mentally deformed, or in cases of rape or incest. Some will wonder why should abortion not be legal in these special cases, even if the general opinion is that having a curettage is murder. Those that believe in God and His Son Jesus Christ know that whatever the situation (whether it's rape, incest or deformity), God is in control. God knows when one of His children is with child. God knows the baby may have been conceived in an atrocious way. God even knows if the baby has deformities. God does not allow anything in a person's life that he has not adequately prepared them to handle. "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that Love Him" (James 1:12). Many times, for living through the consequences of mistakes, a closer relationship with God is formed. This is most important of all. Why should abortion be legal, is not a question that needs an answer. The reasons for this procedure are selfish and illogical.
God does not, however, give us the right to terminate a life for any reason. God alone is the giver and taker of human life, and the one to take each soul into eternity." I know that whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it...."(Ecclesiastes 3:14a). To ignorantly assume that we know what is best, more than God in heaven knows is wrong. If God gives a woman a child through means of rape, He doesn't expect her to kill it. If God creates a deformed baby in the womb, He doesn't intend for anyone to kill it. Distinguishing between acceptable murder and unacceptable murder makes no sense. If people are asking why should abortion be legal, the answer cannot be found if Christians believe that the fate of an innocent child that was conceived from rape does not count as a human life. There is always the option of adoption if the woman feels that strongly about not having a child and is looking for reasons for abortion.
People that have reasons for abortion are only hurting those that rally against the cause to end the legality of this procedure. Murder is murder. The taking of one life by the hands of man is murder. If it's murder to find a rapist and kill him/her, then how can we say it is not murder to abort the innocent human in the mothers womb conceived by that rapist? The general public needs to understand the simplicity of the decision to discard the " why should abortion be legal " arguments. The media paints a grim picture of single parents and the results of not having had this procedure. Meanwhile the blame is shifted to those who encouraged the childbirth, instead of those who committed fornication that resulted in a pregnancy. In our society, if a person is caught stealing, they must suffer the consequences. If they are caught cheating on taxes, they must suffer the consequences. If they commit fornication, they can suffer no consequences, because inconvenience or a child not wanted are supposed to represent good reasons for having this procedure.
As a society, we have a responsibility to convey to our youth the importance of keeping sex within the boundary of marriage so that when new life is begun it has the security of family. Single parenthood is difficult under any circumstances, and especially when the parents are still children themselves. For Christians, included in that argument should be a voice for the unborn that promotes the sanctity of life. Abortion is not the answer; celibacy is. On the adult level, a woman's right to choose is given as a reason for the legalization of abortion. She alone, they say, must carry and give birth to this unwanted child, so she alone should have the right to decide whether the child should live or die. The father doesn't have to be consulted, or even told, what the decision is. In most instances, the father should have as much right as the mother in deciding the fate of his child, and the law should reflect that. While there are many reasons for abortion given, there is only one that has moral grounds, and that is where the life of the mother is at stake. For Christians, the answer to the question, why should abortion be legal, is pretty clear: Life begins at conception, and killing another person is murder. These re the facts that should be factored in when rallying for a woman's right to choose. Children are good gifts from heaven and deserve treatment as such. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with Whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17).
Pro Life Bible VersesPro life Bible verses may not contain the word "abortion" but do include teaching that shows abortion is wrong. We can look at the account of creation in the book of Genesis and find out that all humans are made in the image of God. We are not just a bunch of cells that make up a blob of tissue. "What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that Thou visits him? For Thou has made him a little lower than the angels, and has crowned him with glory and honor. Thou made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field" (Psalm 8:4-7). Pro life Bible verses reveal that God values us. He sent His only son to die for each one of us and if we accept Him as Savior then we can receive forgiveness for our sins and spend eternity in Heaven.
The children of Israel often mingled with other people. God warned them not to do this because He knew they would be influenced by them. The children of Israel mingled with Canaan and began worshipping their idols. God condemned them and allowed the Assyrians to destroy the Kingdom of Israel because they were sacrificing their children to the idols of Canaan (2 Kings 17:17-18). Pro life Bible verses reveal that children have great worth in the sight of the Lord. The people were taken by the Assyrians into exile for shedding innocent blood. These things were recorded so that we can learn by the mistakes that Israel made. Abortion is an act against God's will. God creates life and people destroy what He has created.
When a child is in the womb, he or she is a separate individual. Children who are in the mother's womb have their own body, spirit, and mind. Brain activity after conception begins around the sixth week. The brain divides into three separate parts. The liver starts making blood and the heart starts beating about the fifth week after conception. This blood flowing through the child's body is separate from the mother's. Pro life Bible verses show that God is with children while in the womb. "For Thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb" (Psalm 139:13).
One of the main arguments of pro choice individuals is that a woman should have the right to make decisions about her own body but what about the rights of the child? The hidden truth here is that a woman did make the choice over her own body to have sexual relations. That was the choice and the result is conception of a precious little baby. Pro life Bible verses show that mothers should love their children. Love does not choose to terminate the life of a child. Our choices determine what happens to us. Choosing murder will have a consequence because whatever we sow the Bible says we will reap.
A well known fact about children is that they continue to grow and develop even after birth and up until the age of 20 or older. Some people use the argument that abortion isn't wrong because a child can not survive on his or her own. Even toddlers, if left to themselves, could not survive on their own; they need adults to feed them, keep them clean, and give them attention and love. But if one was to murder a toddler he or she would be prosecuted in a court of law and be sentenced for the crime committed. The developing child in the womb is just as alive and present as a toddler. Pro life Bible verses give us guidance on many subjects. One of the Ten Commandments is clear, "Thou shall not kill!" No matter what excuses or reasons we may choose to use, terminating the life of a human baby is killing and killing is murder.
God uses the same terms in His word for children already born and children that have not been born yet. Pro life Bible verses call the unborn: children, an infant, man-child, baby, son, daughter, and child. He never refers to the unborn as a blob of tissue or a zygote. Why do those who promote abortion choose terms that make the child seem less human? Many of them are promoting abortion because they make money when a woman listens and goes through with the procedure. Abortionists devalue the human children in the womb by giving terms to them like they are some sort of foreign matter.
Pro life Bible verses tell us that children are to be viewed as a blessing from the Lord (Psalm 113:9). Yet many look upon children as a burden or an inconvenience. There may be legitimate reasons that a single mother makes a decision to allow another person to adopt her child. She may be poor and uneducated or feels that she is alone and would not be able to care for the child. Adoption would be a tough decision for a mother who loves her child. Abortion would not be an option to a woman who truly loves her child. God expects us to love and protect our children. He wants us to teach our children right from wrong. Parents need to take the responsibility of having and raising children very seriously. We are held accountable by God and we need to hold one another accountable.
