Most Successful Home Based Business

The most successful home based business begins with a workable idea, but customer service, loyalty, and integrity are the keys to success. People who thrive in the home based world share other traits, as well. Owners who flourish generally have a deep passion for what they do. Going to work each day is an act of love. And those who love working are more likely to succeed. Also, they provide and knowledgeably market a useful product or service that others will spend money on. Most importantly, people are valued above profits. Although profits are important, successful business people don't look at their enterprise simply as a means of making a ton of money. On that note, a plethora of Internet web sites are available to answer prospective owner's questions. In fact, there more than 19 million sites to sift through. That's a ton of information. However, the majority of the sites are the Internet's get-rich-quick garbage.

A staggering number of sites claim that the most successful home based business is the one in which huge profits are made with the least amount of effort, time, and expense. This goes against the Biblical principles of working hard to earn a living. The Bible tells us that a person who does not work shall not eat. Also, it's the equivalent of traveling the easy road and entering through the wide gate, which the Bible warns against doing. So the best home-based enterprise requires hard work and puts people before profits.

With a little diligence and a discerning eye, those looking to run the most successful home based business possible can find useful information on the Internet. Informative articles and tips covering financial management, insurance, taxes; legal issues, marketing, and professional image can all be found. These are all topics a successful owner should be knowledgeable about. But the Internet isn't the only source of information on how to build the most successful home based business. Libraries and bookstores stock entire sections with manuals that instruct ambitious entrepreneurs on how to escape the corporate rat race and make a comfortable living at home. Many books and articles claim that a boss and the hassles of the typical nine-to-five day can be a thing of the past. Periodicals, television commercials, and street-corner ads do the same thing. Caveat: not all information is relevant or reliable. Critically examine all information and thoroughly investigate all persons offering business advice, especially when a fee or contract is involved. Stay away from pyramid schemes, and nearly all those claims that a computer and spare time are all that's needed to run a successful home based business have proven to be scams.

Obviously, the most successful home based business will be profitable. It wouldn't make any sense to invest the time and effort if it wasn't lucrative. But those starting a new business should keep a proper perspective because government reports indicate that several years or more are often needed to turn a profit. In fact, a high percentage of new business ventures fail within the first year. Therefore, perseverance is another important Biblical principle that will help build success. Owners must view the business plan as a long term project and resist the urge to bail out if things aren't going well early on.

Some of the most successful home based businesses are child care, auto garages, house painting, kennels, lawn-care services, and maid services. But these are just a few. Market a product or service the public clamors for and success is a real possibility. Create greeting cards, music, clothes, shoes, coffee mugs, decorative rugs, or crafts. Realistically, the list could go on and on. For example, writing guides and magazines extol the tremendous benefits of working as a freelance copywriter. The proliferation of how-to books in this area has been enormous over the past few years. Most authors tell the aspiring copywriter that exceptional writing talent isn't needed. A writer must market him or herself properly and be a hard, reliable, and honest worker. Dishonest practices will always be uncovered with disastrous consequences.

Dedication, talent, time, and effort are required to build the most successful home based business. God has given each and every person a gift or skill along with love and passion. But each person must develop his or her talent and use it appropriately to be successful in life. "For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness." (Romans 12:4-8)

Unfortunately, there is no definitive model for the most successful home based business. In most cases, individual skill and talent along with consumer need dictate success. However, public need alone is not a guarantee for success. A person who hates children will most likely not succeed in running a daycare center regardless of how much demand exists for the service. In closing, if there is a public need, if a person has a passion for the chosen work, they are knowledgeable about their services or product, and are honest in all business dealings, then success is possible.
