Truck Donations Sites
|
Car or truck donations sites can be in many unique places all over the country for those who are interested in donating a vehicle to a charity for auction/resell purposes or for needy individuals. In fact many organizations are offering personal places of business to be allocated for this reason. Some organizations post the hours on the company website or in their business. This enables customers to be aware of a dealership's efforts in completing civic responsibilities.
In addition to drop off sites, there is the option of pick up for individuals with non running cars or for those that are unable to get to these sites during posted drop off hours. Car or truck donations sites can extend over a multiple amount of locations. Some of these locations include privately owned parking lots, charities, junk yards, or auction houses. In some cases a charity will have agreements with one or more mechanics and a vehicle can be dropped off directly at the mechanics place of business in order to be checked and made serviceable for resell or donation to a needy individual. Each Christian should treat anyone they come across as if that person was Jesus. Knowing this can help motivate an individual to participate in this type of charity.
These locations also include a plethora of dealerships. Dealerships frequently advertise on radio and television stations to bring an automobile into their car or truck donations sites and receive a certain monetary amount off the purchase of a vehicle from their particular dealership. This is a common way to bring in more business and support a list of worthy causes. Non running cars can be towed to the site as long as the value of the car does not offset the towing costs. Cars can usually be picked up within 72 hours of making a reservation.
Be sure to identify which organizations are not-for-profit so there will be no problems with claiming a tax credit on federal tax returns. Keep in mind that in order to use the tax credit, tax returns must be itemized. A new law enacted in January of 2005 states that cars sold at auction can be written off for the price it auctioned for only, with a minimum deduction of $500. In addition to that, all receipts issued by car or truck donations sites must be given to the donor by the charity within 30 days of the sale. By having this written receipt, the IRS will not dispute the amount of the credit.
