Choir Risers
|
Choir risers are used for the choir members or special performances when the individuals need to be elevated because of a large number of participants. This can add a whole new dimension of how a church space is used, adding to the flexibility of room use. Portable risers can also add to the ease of setting up and taking down sets or equipment for weekly or holiday performances. There are many different things to consider when buying this type of equipment for a church, including the cost, usefulness, and necessity.
It is important to know what functions a church would like these items to perform. This will give the members a better idea whether permanent or portable risers are the way to go. The group should review the size of the room and atmosphere in order to enhance the experience of the audience. Another thing to think about is what these choir risers could be used for in the future. Maybe they are only needed for a yearly Christmas performance, but since they are available, it may be time to expand the church's ministries. Depending on the type of products that are purchased, they can be used for weekly worship with any size choir, on top a festival float, or during outreach ministering.
When deciding what to buy, churches should think about whether these products will be used for seating or standing shows. If seated products are chosen, remember that these are just portable risers, not intended for seating. The chairs are most likely not included. Either way, individuals should make sure there is enough head space between the top row and the ceiling for exit. If children will be using the equipment, the church should consider adding rows to the top so all individuals can be seen from the back of an auditorium. Also, members should think about carpeted or wood flooring, carts to transport the items which are not usually included in the cost of the choir risers, and most importantly what size and shape they should be. This seems like a lot to think about, but the last thing a church will want to do is buy the wrong products ans this is a long-term investment for the church and the community.
There are many great supplies, items, and decorations that can add a great deal of theatrical value to a church service. However, choir risers will play no part in bringing people to know and serve the Lord. They may provide a great show for people and may make it easier for the choir to praise God, but they play no major role in the salvation of people in the crowd. It is important for churches and congregation members not to lose focus on the ultimate goal. Matthew 5:16 says "Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
