Christian television is a safe alternative to questionable programming that does not promote family values and morals that the Bible teaches. Christian entertainment comes in many forms, but seems to be hitting the airwaves more nowadays than ever before. Media, that is devoted to spreading the messages of Christ, is making a point to reach a world that is in need of hope. For instance, just in the past few years, our world has faced major crises and has been left devastated. For those who don't know Christ, living seems hopeless and provides no purpose. Fortunately, through media that speaks the truth about salvation, viewers can learn about the purpose of life.
Through the different forms of media, believers can learn about God's working in other countries. Christian television has promoted the happenings of third-world countries for many years now. They share with people the serious trouble these countries are in because of poverty, war and oppression, and disease. TV specials promote organizations that assist in helping these underdeveloped countries. Some of these relief organizations help in the areas of medical, food supply, schooling, and housing. They are there to provide help and a sense of hope to those who lack it.
Many of those in the entertainment industry also work with relief organizations to meet the needs of these countries. Christian entertainment can consist of music groups playing concerts and the proceeds from their ticket sales and merchandise go to raise funds for those in need. At the concerts, a specific Christian organization can promote the way people can help get involved and help. Artist and others in the industry can work as advocates to see that funds are raised for that given charity.
These services are much different from those who use secular entertainers to gather support. Those devoted to Christ do not only promote the physical needs of those who are hurting. They also address the spiritual issues that plague each one of us. There are resources available through Christian television that focus on how much we need Christ. This can be provided through evangelists sharing sermons as well as books being promoted on different topics relevant to a person's struggles. "For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds." (Psalm 108:4)
Christian entertainment also focuses on the message of Christ. They seek to explain why their music is different than other musicians. Their message portrays something important and relevant to life. Christ-like entertainment can come in the form of radio stations broadcasting music or programming that caters to the population of believers and shares that message as well. They broadcast that meaning of fulfillment and purpose in a relationship with Christ.
Bible reading is the best way of developing a relationship with God, but using additional forms of media that promote the true faith can help enhance the process. Whatever an individual's source of connection with God, whether through television which shows meaningful messages via sermons, family shows, or book promotions, or through Christian entertainment in the form of radio, concerts, etc., listeners and lookers will be encouraged, allowing the love of God to penetrate hearts and draw us closer to Him.
