Church Retreat
|
A church retreat is an opportunity to bring kids to the Lord, have a lot of fun, and form a community of friendships among youth groups. These activities can take place anywhere from the church home to a couple states away. Either way, they will bring life back into any church and help people bond together as friends. These special events come in many shapes and sizes intended for any type of group: youth, men, women, children, couples, family, etc. Anyway one looks at it; church retreats are a great idea.
These events aimed for youth involve a lot of fun activities. These activities can involve a lock-in (which means the youth stays that night at the church) or fun skits and games. Usually, it is good to throw many games into the church retreat. This will keep things flowing and keep the youth from getting bored and into trouble. These events are also good opportunities to bring the youth deeper into a relationship with the Lord. They provide a venue to teach new things in a safe environment. Many students can get their friends to go to a church retreat before they can get them to worship services.
Women really benefit from taking part in a retreat. These are times when women can get together and enjoy each other's company while learning more about the Lord and their role in life. Church retreats for women are incredibly rewarding because so many women rarely get out of their house, or have meaningful adult interaction with other women. Usually this event is best if a particular key note speaker is asked to come and speak to the women. Many can relate to the speaker, and they have a lot of fun.
An event like this for family is one that is focused on the community in the family, including both parents and the children. A men's retreat is helpful in bringing life and leadership back into the man. Church retreats truly are an opportunity to honor God as a family. "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works; Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more as we see the day approaching". (Hebrews 10:25) He desires for us to have spiritual community and is joyful when we choose that for each other.
