Floor Plans For Church Construction

Choosing floor plans for new church construction is a big job and there are many factors to consider when congregations are building a new church and selecting blueprints. There are many different types and styles of floor plans that may be suited for unique congregations. Finding the perfect plan for a congregation's needs can be overwhelming as committees sift through blueprints, attempting to determine what is a good "fit" for the church and budget. Having custom plans designed by an architect can also be a tedious and difficult task. It takes time, research, and patience to get just the right plan to meet a congregation's needs.

Perhaps the best way to begin the process of choosing blueprints is to create a needs assessment evaluation. Start with selecting a committee to oversee an assessment of the church's classroom needs, seating capacity needs, parking lot issues, and other ministry needs. This committee should have a good representation of the diversity of the congregation. Committee heads should speak with all of the ministries in the church and get numbers, facts, and future ministry goals written for a complete evaluation. Having these facts and ideas will help in designing or choosing floor plans for new church construction that will fit the church needs and the future growth.

After completing the church evaluation, then committees will want an architectural firm to investigate and assess the space and various ministries as well. Having another party examine the research and conducting their own individual study is a good way to make sure that major space requirements have not been overlooked. Often, this uninterested party can give good advice and can offer suggestions and directions that may have been overlooked by a committee that is working within the body. "He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he." (Proverbs 17:20) With the information provided by both a committee and an architectural firm, the church is ready to look at floor plans for new church construction.

An important factor to keep in mind when choosing floor plans is cost. When an architect gives an estimated cost for floor plans for new church construction, churches should remember that the original bid by an architect may, and will most likely be, lower than the final figure of costs. Every building project can accumulate additional expenses, so building committees should always be prepared to spend more. There are many things to research and prepare for before selecting or having blueprints developed.
