Bad Credit Rating

Bad credit ratings can prevent consumers from getting future lending because it indicates to lenders that the consumer is unreliable and will most likely not pay back the funds. It is important to protect oneself from a bad credit rating and correct it in case of agency errors. Most consumers do not realize how difficult it is to overcome a poor score until they apply for a mortgage, a vehicle or large personal loans. Many times these loans or purchases are necessary to provide a comfortable future and Americans who have poor scores will have a difficult time in realizing these aspirations.

Most consumers recognize the obvious factors that cause poor scores such as defaulting on a mortgage or car loan. Factors such as charge-offs on cards and defaulting on large, personal loans are also widely recognized by most consumers to cause a bad credit rating for anyone. However, more insignificant actions such as allowing a charge account to lie dormant can even contribute to bad credit ratings. Even if the consumer is current in their balance for a charge account, inactivity causes scores to slip because of an assumption of insufficient personal funds to continue charging.

Surprisingly, not charging on a card can influence whether or not a person receives a poor financial score. Another seemingly insignificant credit card issue that can contribute to bad credit ratings is deciding to drop a charge account. Even though financial analysis values on-time payments and card pay-offs as an influence of a good score, it does not award high scores for closing charge accounts even if the consumer paid everything off as agreed. The score can actually drop if the consumer closes a charge account and it can influence a bad credit rating for one's financial history.

The best thing to do with good credit card accounts is to make small purchases on those accounts and pay the balance off at the end of the month. This will only affect the score in a positive way instead of contributing to a bad credit rating. The way to repair bad credit ratings for anyone experiencing this difficulty is to begin to accumulate a good financial history for even the smallest of debt. There are many debt solution and debt relief sources online that can assist people in determining the best way to overcome a poor score. "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." (1 Timothy 6:6-7)
