Contemporary Home Office Furniture
|
Contemporary home office furniture is often chosen by those who want to display their individuality and perhaps their view towards the future rather than a look back at the past. The style may be for the person who wants to show that the most important moment is the now rather than some bygone era. Contemporary home office furniture says that someone doesn't listen to others when they claim that a look or design is timeless and classic, but rather chart's their own course in terms of what is classic to him or her. The aficionados of the current, the modern and the hip are saying to the world that today is the best time to be alive and not in some memory of a golden era decades ago. People who choose modern home office furniture love its sleek lines and its jibe often taken at old traditions.
When people choose modern office furnishings, they have many choices that they must make. Often all that is needed is a desk and chair and sometimes a file cabinet will be added or perhaps a printer stand. With the design of corner credenzas, the corners of rooms can now be taken advantage of, often applying utility to space not considered before. And when the contemporary home office furniture is purchased from the average office supply store, the cost of the furnishings can be quite nominal. While many furnishings can be inexpensive, the cost of dying without having a Savior is incalculable. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God...for the wages of sins is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 3:23 and 6:23)
Most people cannot afford custom made furniture, and many cannot afford solid hardwood furnishings. The term solid wood only means that the exposed pieces of wood that one sees are solid wood, while the actual skeleton of the furniture may be another material, often engineered products such as press board or chipboard. Most of the contemporary home office furniture that is low to medium prices is actually engineered pressboard or chipboard with the photograph of wood grain glued onto the board. When there are no knots in the wood, and there is no variation on texture on the board with the surface being as smooth as glass, this is a sign that the furnishings are engineered wood. It is quite possible that with desks made of this material, the legs may actually be solid wood.
Solid hardwood furnishings are made of wood from trees that lose their leaves in the fall. Oak, walnut, birch, maple and other woods are solid hardwood providers, and these are definitely the most expensive furnishings. Much of the contemporary designer of office furnishings actually shy away from using darker woods that are the mainstays of the more traditional or classic look in furnishings, so maple is often the choice of contemporary designers. Of course any wood can be stained to look maple in color. Chrome accessories are also very popular in modern design, along with a metallic or silvery tone. And the lovers of contemporary home office furniture have another avenue to go in, unlike the traditional buffs.
The affinity for modern design allows for all metal instead of wood for its expression. That means a whole new dimension of possibility for the one who wants contemporary home office furniture. One thing is for certain: the lovers of the classic and the traditional don't want a metal desk. They don't want chrome and sure don't want lamps without shades, but those certainly are an option with the contemporary home office furniture market. Desks with curved sides, single metal legs, glass tops, colored panels and many other innovations are all part of this genre of furnishings. Pedestals for wastebaskets, filing cabinets supported by a single post from the floor and other similar designs are part of the high end, more expensive market of modern furnishings. Modern furnishings will usually cost at least as much or more than classic or traditional designs.
For those who are on the lower price range end of things, there are fewer choices of these more extreme contemporary designs. In fact, there is really only one choice for anything remotely considered as modern in design that any of the "in the box" manufacturers can offer. In reality, what is considered modern design is straight lined without embellishment of any kind. And this is exactly what the engineered wood computer office furniture is that comes in the box and ready to assemble. The furnishings from the box are indeed straight lined and if they were to be painted white or another color rather than have the photographs of wood grain on them, they would look quite modern to the eye. The other option is to buy the very straight legged, stamped metal desks that are usually painted black on the sides and front, have a faux wood pattern on the top and chrome legs. In the very strictest sense of the term, these manufactured metal desks that run between two and four hundred dollars could be considered contemporary home office furniture.
If a person must put together a home office in a hurry and the money is not available for the high end pieces that are really desired, there are two choices. The first would be to look for used pieces and especially during economical downturns. People are looking to raise extra capital, and selling off extraneous furnishings is often one means of doing so. The other choice is to perhaps buy just one piece at a time. There may be some very nice desks in the desired modern form for under a thousand dollars. Then, until more capital is available, use the very stylish card board box and dining room chair for the needed storage and seating. There will be better days ahead and that Italian designed executive chair will be yours.
