Christian Prayers For Healing
|
Christian prayers for healing are some of the most important prayers that lay people in the church can provide for members. Not everyone understands how healing works in the life of a Christian, and the church would be helping members immensely by offering classes on intercession on a regular basis. Requests may not be received that often, but can be in a church where Christian prayers for healing take place on a regular basis; requests may come at intervals that are more regular. At any rate, the Lord can work wonderful miracles in the lives of people who have faith in what He can do.
Healing prayer requests take place at any time and anywhere, not just within the walls of a church. Churches who instruct faithful followers in performing regular outreach ministry often provide instruction on how to effectively intercede for others when requested. Many times requests for this type of intercession are taken care of after a service as everyone is filing out to go home. People may stand in the front of the auditorium waiting for others to approach to receive it. At times, when healing prayer requests are made repeatedly, the intercession may take more than just one person. In those cases, other members of the team and even the pastors may get involved. When more than one person intercedes for an individual, it could be termed as a laying on of hands. Those providing this intercession gather around the individual, place hands upon them, and pray out loud. Sometimes some anointing oil is used, which is scriptural. The time for praying is naturally dependent upon the need of the person for whom it is being offered. Some needs may be emotional, physical or spiritual. Some may ask for intercession regarding individuals in their family, or in the families of friends or co-workers. Others may request it for congregations in the area who are struggling financially, which would be a need for financial healing. There are numerous instances where this type of request would be warranted. God desires to have a relationship with those who love Him. He is a personal God and created us to have relationships. He delights in hearing from His servants, because we are dependent on Him to provide our needs.
As Christians, we are instructed by the Lord to make our requests known to Him, so that He can answer our prayers. Too often people use God like a vending machine, asking for new cars, more money or to rescue them when they get into situations they never should have gotten into in the first place. When we understand that God is our Father, and that our Lord is interested in meeting needs that are within His will, and not according to our will, then God will listen. God wants to provide because He is our loving father. Parents love to give good things to obedient children, not children who are demanding. Therefore, Christian prayers for healing should be voiced in a loving, careful manner, with the understanding that what is being prayed for should be within the will of God. Many times this isnt known, and so the prayers are offered in faith.
Prayer chains are a good way to stay on top of healing prayer requests. These chains can be implemented via email, or passed out during services each week. Telephone calls to people on the chain on a regular basis serve as a catalyst to prompt the next person to intercede for individuals. In this way, someone is always praying. Those who intercede must be sure they are praying in faith, as mentioned above. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and If he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him (James 5:15 KJV).
Christians who are faithful about praying for others and have great faith in God can experience wonderful answers. Some members in churches have experienced healing from AIDS, heart conditions that went away and baffled the doctors, healing of cancers like Leukemia, cancer of the breast and many more. These types of answers are certainly from God. It is exciting that Christian prayers for healing are so powerful. The answers only serve to increase the faith of the person who was healed, and then that person can go on to greater growth in the Lord. This strengthens the body of Christ (the church) as well.
If information is desired on how to go about learning of Christian prayers for healing, there are several avenues to accomplish this. For example, visiting a local Christian bookstore would most likely provide many books on the subject of healing prayer. Libraries may be a good resource or having educational discussions with the pastor of the church currently attended. There is a plethora of electronic media available at bookstores for those who prefer to listen rather than read. Workshops are conducted around the country sponsored by Christian organizations, that demonstrate how to perform this ministry, allowing a hands-on experience from participants. This is a wonderful ministry for individuals who feel led to do this for others. It is a ministry one does not need a degree to do, and ministers to almost every member of a congregation. Healing prayer requests can then be directed not just to the pastor or deacons, but also to anyone in the church who is obedient to God and willing to reach out.
