Military Allotment Loans

Military allotment loans can be an excellent solution for armed services personnel who need extra money. Personal, family, and household needs can present expenses that stretch even the most frugal and budget-conscious person. Fortunately, the funds from a military allotment loan can be used for a variety of reasons. For example, if the family car needs a new transmission and the savings account is already depleted, this money could be just the solution. If the family is expecting a new baby and the nursery isn't furnished yet, the funds could help buy a crib, playpen, and high chair.

Less urgent needs, such as remodeling a room, visiting family, purchasing a new computer, updating kitchen appliances, or even taking a vacation, can also be met through military allotment loans. Another excellent use of the money is for consolidating other bills into a single monthly payment. The amounts can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, depending on the needs of the applicant.

The repayment structure is particularly convenient for military personnel. Repayment of a military allotment loan happens, as the name implies, by allotment. There are many benefits to this kind of repayment structure. The convenience of an automatic payment means that the borrowers will never have to pay a late charge. Borrowers do not need to worry about remembering the due date, writing a check, and getting it in the mail on time. These considerations are especially meaningful given the unpredictability of military life.

Most lenders understand the unique challenges of military life and operate these programs accordingly. Applicants who are concerned about their credit ratings and think that they would not be approved for the amount they would like to borrow should speak with the lender about these issues. Although other lenders may deny your application immediately, lenders of military allotment loans will work to try and approve the request.

Of course, these loans are not sources of free money. The lenders expect that the full amount will be paid back. "The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth," (Psalm 37:21). So, as with any financial agreement, ask the lender questions and read the contract (including any fine print) very carefully. Inquire about the interest rate, whether any additional fees are charged, and if insurance coverage is required. Be sure to fully understand the terms and conditions of the military allotment loan before accepting the money.
