Christian Travel
|
Christian travel opportunities exist for those that heed the calling of God to go somewhere and spread the Good News about the ability to be completely forgiven by God just for knowing and accepting His Son. These trips are often called missionary trips or assignments. In many cases a church congregation will support one or more people from their own church to travel to another country and complete a project, teach children, help a community or any number of compassionate service duties. These trips are not however, always supported by the church and an individual who is interested may have to raise their own funds and support to afford the airline ticket and place to stay while on assignment.
Many who desire to become missionaries should be patient, and persevere until God makes a way for the desire to become a reality. It is common for teens attending a local church or Christian schools to experience the reality of Christian travel. These missionary trips are usually short term in nature and require the parent to provide the funds necessary for the student. During the students' missionary assignments, they are exposed to extreme cultural differences, sometimes opposing religions, and a much more poverty stricken lifestyle.
Students that have experienced a missionary trip come back home with a deep sense of appreciation and blessing for the freedoms they have and the material luxuries they possess. It is not uncommon for a large percentage of those that try missionary Christian travel in high school or college, to retake a trip or become involved at a higher level by reaching out to the world and spreading the Gospel of Christ. Some students end up devoting their entire lives to the evangelism ministries around the world. "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)
Any adult or child that is interested in this sort of endeavor should be given the opportunity. It is an eye opening experience and those that participate in one will never be the same again. In order to arrange a missionary trip, there are Christian agencies available that have organized lists of open trips. The descriptions and itineraries are available to prospective travelers and are usually offered at a discounted rate if there is a group of 7 or more attending. Places to stay on these trips also offer discounts for larger groups. It is advised that an interested traveler seek the help of their church administration or Christian travel agent before booking an adventure for Christ.
