Most Successful Home Based Business
The most successful home based business begins with a workable idea, but customer service, loyalty, and integrity are the keys to success. People who thrive in the home based world share other traits, as well. Owners who flourish generally have a deep passion for what they do. Going to work each day is an act of love. And those who love working are more likely to succeed. Also, they provide and knowledgeably market a useful product or service that others will spend money on. Most importantly, people are valued above profits. Although profits are important, successful business people don't look at their enterprise simply as a means of making a ton of money. On that note, a plethora of Internet web sites are available to answer prospective owner's questions. In fact, there more than 19 million sites to sift through. That's a ton of information. However, the majority of the sites are the Internet's get-rich-quick garbage.
A staggering number of sites claim that the most successful home based business is the one in which huge profits are made with the least amount of effort, time, and expense. This goes against the Biblical principles of working hard to earn a living. The Bible tells us that a person who does not work shall not eat. Also, it's the equivalent of traveling the easy road and entering through the wide gate, which the Bible warns against doing. So the best home-based enterprise requires hard work and puts people before profits.
With a little diligence and a discerning eye, those looking to run the most successful home based business possible can find useful information on the Internet. Informative articles and tips covering financial management, insurance, taxes; legal issues, marketing, and professional image can all be found. These are all topics a successful owner should be knowledgeable about. But the Internet isn't the only source of information on how to build the most successful home based business. Libraries and bookstores stock entire sections with manuals that instruct ambitious entrepreneurs on how to escape the corporate rat race and make a comfortable living at home. Many books and articles claim that a boss and the hassles of the typical nine-to-five day can be a thing of the past. Periodicals, television commercials, and street-corner ads do the same thing. Caveat: not all information is relevant or reliable. Critically examine all information and thoroughly investigate all persons offering business advice, especially when a fee or contract is involved. Stay away from pyramid schemes, and nearly all those claims that a computer and spare time are all that's needed to run a successful home based business have proven to be scams.
Obviously, the most successful home based business will be profitable. It wouldn't make any sense to invest the time and effort if it wasn't lucrative. But those starting a new business should keep a proper perspective because government reports indicate that several years or more are often needed to turn a profit. In fact, a high percentage of new business ventures fail within the first year. Therefore, perseverance is another important Biblical principle that will help build success. Owners must view the business plan as a long term project and resist the urge to bail out if things aren't going well early on.
Some of the most successful home based businesses are child care, auto garages, house painting, kennels, lawn-care services, and maid services. But these are just a few. Market a product or service the public clamors for and success is a real possibility. Create greeting cards, music, clothes, shoes, coffee mugs, decorative rugs, or crafts. Realistically, the list could go on and on. For example, writing guides and magazines extol the tremendous benefits of working as a freelance copywriter. The proliferation of how-to books in this area has been enormous over the past few years. Most authors tell the aspiring copywriter that exceptional writing talent isn't needed. A writer must market him or herself properly and be a hard, reliable, and honest worker. Dishonest practices will always be uncovered with disastrous consequences.
Dedication, talent, time, and effort are required to build the most successful home based business. God has given each and every person a gift or skill along with love and passion. But each person must develop his or her talent and use it appropriately to be successful in life. "For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness." (Romans 12:4-8)
Unfortunately, there is no definitive model for the most successful home based business. In most cases, individual skill and talent along with consumer need dictate success. However, public need alone is not a guarantee for success. A person who hates children will most likely not succeed in running a daycare center regardless of how much demand exists for the service. In closing, if there is a public need, if a person has a passion for the chosen work, they are knowledgeable about their services or product, and are honest in all business dealings, then success is possible.
Legitimate Home Based BusinessA legitimate home based business is very different from the dime a dozen "work at home" scams offered over the Internet. Promises to be able to work from one's residence and make lots of money are made everywhere online and each begins with the premise that the job searcher must first pay the website some sort of fee. "Run, Forrest, run!" Get away from that website as fast as possible because it is a scam. In fact, consumer watchdog groups have found that over ninety five percent of all work at home come-ons offer nothing but an empty wallet for consumers. But a legitimate home based business can offer an entrepreneurial type a way to work in his pajamas under certain conditions and still make a living.
But before a person begins a commerce venture at his place of residence, there are some issues to deal with that need honest answers. The greatest issue for a person starting a legitimate home based business is the need for self discipline. Working in one's pajamas may be one thing, but working without supervision, without accountability, without a set lunch time or break times and an always nearby and inviting television can be very difficult for some to overcome. Some people need a highly structured environment in order to be productive and get work completed. An honest self-appraisal is needed for this all important issue. And if there are other family members home during the day, there will have to be support and understanding from them to create a quiet work atmosphere and privacy. Spouses and children alike will have to be highly supportive of this life altering move.
So what can be defined as a legitimate home based business? It would be a commerce venture that the owner feels comfortable conducting, has the aptitude and basic skills to complete, and can find all the resources needed to be successful. This is where many of the "work at your house" Internet scams fall down. A "job" that advertises quick money by following a plan in an eBook that is downloaded after up front is paid will almost certainly lack the follow up resources a person needs to have all knowledge gaps filled in. A work opportunity that promises riches within weeks after paying a nebulous website is a red flag that needs to be heeded.
One of the best legitimate home based business opportunities would be an opportunity in which the entrepreneur already has many of the abilities and tools needed to be successful. For example, there are online websites looking for copywriters. If a person has a degree in journalism or is a natural writer, these are built in opportunities to work at one's residence. These positions characteristically do not pay well, and the days are long, but there can be the opportunity to do what a person loves to do. There are residence based jobs that can fit a person's passion such as a kennel owner, or managing bed and breakfasts that can be very lucrative when located in the right areas. It only takes some thought and effort to match one's personality and natural abilities and passions with a residence based business.
But perhaps some of the safest and most legitimate home based business ventures would be residence based franchises. Most of these franchises do take some investment capital in order to begin. The amounts can range from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars but with so many different franchises available, it is not difficult to get excited about one that fits a person's unique abilities. Most legitimate home based business opportunities are meant to dovetail with someone's full time job for a while, but with very few exceptions, these entrepreneurial enterprises can offer a fulltime job within a year or two. So maybe the desire really is strong to get out of an office and be one's own boss. But have you tried a last ditch effort before throwing in the towel?
Ask the boss if the job can be done at an employee's house. Go on; ask if the office can be moved to the house. If a person's job is just basically sitting in front of a computer all day long, why not see if it can be done at home? How about starting out requesting for half a day at home? A person just may not have to give up a good paying job for the uncertainties of self employment and self employment is another deal altogether. It means paying more taxes, funding one's own healthcare, and by the way, has dealing with the public really been considered yet? Right now angry customers may never be a part of one's experience but when a person is the big cheese, look out!
It isn't typically the men that are looking to get out of the rat race and work at home. The overwhelming majority of persons seeking a legitimate home based business are women. The dirty little secret about a business at home means that eventually the pajamas are going to have to come off, and guess what...the hours for the self employed are typically three to four hours a day longer than those under the thumb of the big cheese. An enterprise started in a personal residence demands more out of a person than any regular job because of the demands to balance interruptions, paperwork, unhappy clients, fatigue and sometimes not very understanding family members. And when the financial statements come out at the end of the month, there is no one to blame but moi.
