Christian Creation Story
The incomparable creation story in Genesis gives evidence that man did not evolve from apes as theorized by mid-19th century evolutionist Charles Darwin, but man was created after the image and likeness of God. While some public and private secular schools persist in perpetuating the notion that humans descended from apes and developed through a process of time into Cro-Magnons and Neanderthals; the Christian creation story clearly debunks this belief. Reading the Book of Genesis not only brings clarification regarding mankind's beginning, but also reveals God's purpose and intent for fashioning humans. As Supreme Creator of the Universe, God does not have to recycle apes to make another more developed entity called man. According to the Christian creation story, in six days the Lord formed the heavens, the earth, and all plant and animal life. The Father then created the first man Adam and placed the man in the midst of the Garden of Eden. God's intent was to reproduce after His likeness a male and female with whom there could be perpetual fellowship, as they emanated God's nature and character. Adam and Eve were charged with the divine mandate to: "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion..." In essence, God commissioned man to be a representative on the earth with the same authority the Lord had in Heaven.
The Book of Genesis is actually a book of beginnings and a riveting account of the Christian creation story, as God spoke to Moses. Before the beginning of time, God existed and will continue to exist long after man, with all of his carnal reasoning and technological advances, has disappeared off the face of the earth. God is omniscient, therefore knows all things. God is omnipresent, able to be in all places at the same time. And God is omnipotent, possessing all power in the Universe. There is no being greater than God; no other deity capable of bringing forth the sun and sky, the moon and the seas, or capable of speaking forth light and filling the earth with the life changing power of the Holy Spirit. Anyone who has taken the time to study the Holy Word of God surely will leave with the impression that there can only be a sole supreme being capable of engineering the creation of mankind. The creation story in Genesis is so amazingly awesome that in spite of man's attempts to discredit and discount the Word of God, the saga of man's life on earth continues to astound us.
The Genesis account of creation stands as a testament to the omnipotent power of God to not only breathe into Adam the breath of life, thereby creating the first living soul; but to enable that same man to reproduce seed after his own kind. From the first male and female, the entire earth was populated with humans fashioned, not as apes, but as upright souls, walking in all the power and the authority of Almighty God. The creation story in Genesis is actually a revelation of the plan, purpose and intent of God. The Father delights and takes pleasure in man, a reflection of His character. In creating the first man, God actually reproduced Himself; just as the seed of a natural father penetrates the egg to create a son. And in forming the first Adam, God established man's dominion over the earth. "And God said, Let us make man in or image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them" (Genesis 1:26-27). Although mankind lost the authority to govern the earth through Adam's transgression; that innate power to decree, dictate and dominate yet resounds in the heart of the regenerated soul. When sinful man returns to the Creator by receiving salvation through the second Adam, which is Christ Jesus our Lord, he is once again restored to godly fellowship and given the divine authority to replenish the earth and subdue it for the Kingdom of God.
The amazing Christian creation story can inspire men and women and boys and girls everywhere to seek, search for, and to find the Creator. Genesis is a story which compels the lost to return to fellowship and to experience the sweet communion Adam and Eve had in the Garden before sin's deception captivated their hearts and minds. The book of beginnings demonstrates the overwhelming compassion between Creator and creature which emanates and resounds in the Biblical account of his birth. Therefore those who have truly become born again in Christ Jesus and those who have touched the pulse of God through the indwelling of the Spirit can no longer accept a theory of evolution. Doubters and scoffers of the creation story in Genesis have only to take a look in the mirror to see the face of God. They have only to gaze at the palms of their hands to see the imprint of the Spirit; and they have only to take a look at the amazing planet all around them to know that surely, this awesome creation is not one that occurred by accident or by a Big Bang. "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). Once the Christian creation story is accepted by faith, the heart of a regenerated man will surely bear witness that fashioning heaven and earth, light and darkness, day and night, fish and fowl, cattle and creeping thing, and male and female could have only been the work of a true and living God.
Creation Myths Of The WorldCreation myths of the world try to explain the beginning of life, how the earth was created. Many cultures have their own beliefs and stories behind the origin of life. In addition, scientific theories put their own twists on the origin of life. The creation of earth in the Bible provides detail of the first six days where God created the heavens and the earth. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" (Genesis 1:1-2). The book of Genesis explains the creation of all life and how God spoke it into being. The light was the first thing created. After that came the sky and the oceans and the separation of land from the ocean and plants. The sun, moon, and stars came next and then the sea animals and the birds. Lastly were the land animals and humanity, both man and woman. God did all of this in six days and then He rested on the seventh day.
The stories of the ancient Greeks were around many characters referred to as gods and they were worshipped by the people. These gods appear in story in relation to adventurous beasts or monsters. Greeks had many mythical creatures as an explanation to the origins of life. The Greeks creation myths of the world largely believed that the world was formed naturally from water as were the gods. Greek philosophers wrote about the beginning of life, the immortality of the soul, and about life and death.
Some sources say that a big explosion started it all. This big explosion caused the galaxies and planets to form. They also believe that humans originated from life in the sea. This theory claims that the earth is billions of years old. Creation of earth in the Bible shows us that the earth is less than 10,000 years old. This is quite a difference. God made man in His image from the dust of the ground and breathed life into Him. Sources that believe in the big explosion theory believe that man evolved from apes. In addition, some sources believe that the beginning of the evolution of man started from animals in the water that eventually evolved to be land animals. These land animals eventually evolved into apes. This evolution took billions of years.
The stories of the Babylonians claim that a god battled a goddess and from this chaos light came into being. As the chaos continued dry land appeared as well as the sun, moon, and stars. Then men and women came into being and the gods rested. Creation myths of the world do not agree with the account in the Bible including the main truth that the one and only true God created everything. Some sources do not recognize the Deity of God. Some people think the origin of life as accounted in God's word is a myth or just a story. However, there are also many people who believe the origin of life account in the book of Genesis and these accept it by faith, they believe God.
All a person has to do is look around at the creation and he or she should be able to see that the origins of life are too complex to have just happened. The human body itself is a magnificent machine that shows some of God's best handiwork. The creation of earth in the Bible is really the only explanation that makes true sense. The more a person learns about the complexity of life the more questions come up with no definite answers. Believing that life just happened all by itself takes a much bigger leap of faith than believing that God created everything. God's word says that He has made it evident through His creation that He exists but some people refuse to see the truth.
No other planet known supports life except the Earth. The way the sun and the moon help to support this life could not have just happened by accident. One of the most important elements for existence of life is water. Water sustains all life on the earth. There just happens to be the right mixture of nitrogen and oxygen to sustain human life. The atmosphere just happens to allow the right amount of sunlight to help sustain life. One would have to wonder how humans could comprehend the amount of knowledge that it took to create such a world. The creation of earth in the Bible reveals a small amount of that knowledge by showing the picture of how God created all of this magnificence in just six days.
Other myths around the origin of life and the earth include mythical beings and gods who were responsible for the beginning either through their actions or by their deaths. One source talks about the death of such a being becoming the actual creation of the world. This being actually became the sun, moon, mountains, clouds, and people. Creation myths of the world do not offer the hope that God's word offers those who choose to believe. He offers us a personal relationship with His son Jesus Christ who died for the sins of the entire world. Anyone who believes can experience all of the joys that this relationship brings including eternal life. Choosing to believe myths does not give a person hope of eternal life. Choosing to believe in God provides the hope that one day those who believe will be with Him forever.
